THE EVELYN BURGOYNE TEXTILE INNOVATION LAB
The TIL contains textile tech equipment and software used for textile design and prototype development. Review the list of available equipment below. If you need training, please follow the steps on the Sign-up + Training page.
EPSON SURE COLOR F6200 DYE SUBLIMATION DIGITAL FABRIC PRINTER
Uses a dye sublimation process, it transfers ink from paper onto polyester or PVA blended fabric/materials ONLY. Epson prints in a maximum width of 44 inches. and indefinite length. Print a test strip 6 x 44 inch prior to the final print file and use it to calibrate the heat settings for your material.
INDUSTRIAL HEAT CALENDAR
This machine can quickly press fabric yardage, be used to apply heat-transfer vinyls, and transfer your digital print design from sublimation paper to polyester materials.
CALCOMP PATTERN DIGITIZATION TABLET
The CalComp Roll-Up digitizer is used to digitize physical patterns. Digitized patterns can be digitall modified, graded into multiple sizes, exported as true-to-scale shapes for pattern engineering and pattern plotting.
SEVEN-THREAD AUTOMATED EMBROIDERY MACHINE
This machine can embroider 7 colors automatically. This machine requires that you set-up your design file with the Artistic Digitizer software, available on the desktop computers in 6461. Save your prepared artwork file as a JPG file format to a jump drive, and insert it into the ELNA 970 console...
PFAFF 8312 ULTRASONIC WELDING MACHINE
Ultrasonic welding is a modern, innovative and economic alternative and complementary to conventional sewing technology that fuses materials together using ultrasonic vibration, creating a durable seal. If you are assembling laminates, clothing fabrics with high share of polymeric fiber and/or technical nonwovens, ultrasonic welding using the PFAFF 8312 is a great alternative to conventional needle sewing. This welder can fuse and cut seams in several different patterns.
CRICUT MAKER MACHINE + DESIGN SPACE
This machine is an automated cutting machine for paper, stick-on vinyl, iron-on heat transfers, cardstock, poster board, and specific lightweight fabrics. This machine uses the online Cricut Design Space for file setup. (self training). Bring your own Cricut-brand materials- These can be purchased at craft stores or online. https://design.cricut.com/
JANOME MEMORY CRAFT 6600 EMBROIDERY MACHINE
This machine does one-color manual freehand embroidery. It contains loads of features created for quilters, including layered fabric feeding. It has 163 built-in stitches, including alphabet/monogramming, automated buttonholes and specialized stitch features.
JANOME 300E EMBROIDERY MACHINE
This is a single-thread automated embroidery machine that requires design set up using the Artistic Digitizer or digitizer junior software. It features 100 built-in designs, and includes 2 different hoop sizes.
JANOME FM-725 NEEDLE FELTING MACHINE
The FM-725 is a needle felting machine - it does not sew, but uses barbed needles to mesh fabrics together. The fibers mingle to create new color and texture combinations that simply cannot be achieved with embroidery, applique, or any other kind of needlework.
